Issues Affecting Home Builders

The Indiana Builders Association’s Advocacy Team takes an active role in issues impacting the home building industry to foster growth in Indiana and to protect our members’ ability to provide housing that is safe and affordable for Hoosiers.

2026 Legislative Priorities

 

  • Expand Indiana’s housing supply and drive down costs of home ownership by rolling back costly regulations that impede development (HB 1001).

  • Consolidate commission duties into DHS; make state construction requirements freely available in statute (HB 1003).

  • Grow housing inventory by expanding the tax deductions in the Model & Spec Home Acts and prohibiting caps on rental properties (HB 1210).

  • Advance workforce solutions and promote opportunities for careers in the home building industry.
