Issues Affecting Home Builders

The Indiana Builders Association’s Advocacy Team takes an active role in issues impacting the home building industry to foster growth in Indiana and to protect our members’ ability to provide housing that is safe and affordable for Hoosiers.

2026 Legislative Priorities Achieved

  • HEA 1001: Expands Indiana’s housing supply and drives down costs of home ownership by rolling back costly regulations that impede development.

  • HEA 1003: Transfers building codes from the commission to a state agency & requires code changes be authorized by the Indiana General Assembly.

  • HEA 1210: Grows housing inventory by expanding the tax deductions for model & spec homes and prohibiting caps on single-family rental properties.

  • HEA 1150: Protects fuel choice and the use of gas-powered tools and equipment.
